The exhibition takes its title from Antoni Tàpies’s painting Blau emblemàtic (1971). It proposes a provisional distinction between the world (A = A) and the laws used to describe it (B = B). Rather than illustrating scientific concepts, the exhibition places artistic works in dialogue with investigations into their physical, chemical, mathematical and conceptual conditions.
The exhibition was organised like a research article. Its route included an introduction, the real world (A = A), a parallel field of scientific case studies (B = B), a bibliography and deliberately blank conclusions. Weekly case studies were developed in dialogue with physics students and research centres.
The project extended beyond the Fundació Antoni Tàpies to the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB).
