The Limits of Control

In the center of the room we find the Artist´s proof, the first non-definite copy which is now incapsulated inside a methacrylic box pertaining to Pep Vidal´s doctoral thesis in physics. Because the document is conserved within an isolated system, this allows the symbolic and personal emotional moment to be preserved which closes a vital cycle and opens up another phase, a new adventure which intends to deeply analyse how a basic existentialist knowledge is established: the relation between the being and the space it occupies.
In order to write his thesis, the artist locked himself away in a small wooden cottage during half a year (more information here). The doctoral thesis has been awarded the Miquel Casablancas Award 2014 in the publication section and is the origen of his artistic practices: the infintesimal changes, very small changes which cannot be seen and for this very same reason are tremendously strong.
The installation is completed with two personal moments in relation with the process of writing the thesis. hago mis Je me souviens de la tesis. are the acknowledgments of my thesis: a summary of all the remembered experiences during this long term process.
